Short network drops upstream
The server running Discord bots and the control panel has been unreachable from the internet four times: several drops over about two hours on 28 August, while everything was being moved onto it, then about a minute at 16:35 CEST on 12 September and twice for about a minute on 2 September. The machine itself kept running each time, and its own logs show it healthy throughout; the fault was upstream of us, on the network our server hangs off, where the gateway stopped routing traffic. In August we spent too long suspecting our own setup, which is why we added a monitor that records every drop with what was and was not reachable. That is how the September ones were caught. No data was lost.
